I have been in higher education for more than 25 years, having served as a full-time faculty member in addition to having been appointed to various administrative positions, all at UCM. A typical day includes numerous meetings with internal constituents to address pressing issues and formulate strategic initiatives and/or external constituents to engage in partnership development or other activities to further to mission of UCM and foster support for our work.

What energizes you outside of your career?

Spending time with my spouse Robin and with our grandchildren, attending sporting and cultural events at UCM.

How is JCEDC valuable to you and your organization?

There is a symbiotic relationship between the university and community. As a resident of the community, I know having a university is a valuable resource for all of Johnson County. As president for the university, I know that having a vibrant county with economic opportunities is valuable for the university. JCEDC is critical to us as we ensure a sustainable future for both the university and our communities.

What have you enjoyed the most about serving on the JCEDC Board of Directors?

I have enjoyed being able to play a very small role in supporting the economic vitality of the county through supporting JCEDC. I have also enjoyed getting to know fellow directors who bring a passion and dedication to making our communities better places for everyone.

What three words would you use to describe JCEDC?

Dedication. Betterment. Passion.

Why do you love Johnson County, Missouri?

It's the people. Communities and counties are simply collections of individuals, and Johnson County has so many wonderful, caring and kind people who come together to support each other.
