WARRENSBURG, MO – Johnson County Economic Development Corporation (JCEDC) hosted over 100 attendees and honored economic development investors, partners and communities Thursday night, November 14, at the JCEDC Partnership Appreciation Celebration. This annual event is an opportunity for JCEDC to express appreciation to many partners for a successful year of contributions to the local economy and county.
JCEDC, the only county-wide economic development organization, positively affects business development, placemaking, entrepreneurship, talent development, and regionalism and in doing so promotes the economic health of Johnson County, Central Missouri region, and the state of Missouri.
In past events, JCEDC’s guest of honor has been a new or long time business. This year, JCEDC President Drew Lewis noted the group wanted to focus on great economic development efforts happening around the county. Mayor Casey Lund spoke about several projects happening within the City of Warrensburg. From the City of Holden, Jim McDaniel gave an update on stormwater improvements that provide necessary services for existing residents and businesses. Representing the Holden Park & Recreation Board, Andrew Wakeman discussed the collaboration and partnership involved in creating an inclusive children’s park. Leeton Alderman and middle/high school principal Jennifer Corson discussed important talent initiatives underway in the Leeton School District. Mayor Adam Morton from the City of Knob Noster ended the program with an empassioned speech about placemaking, a process of creating quality places where people want to live, work, play, and learn.
President Lewis noted the work of economic development is made possible by the annual financial partners.
